Hawks! I'm relieved to see the number two pro-hero here.

[He's only newly arrived here, so he hasn't had the chance to check up and see how many people from their world are actually here. Right now, he's just grateful to run into someone that he knows in any capacity that isn't a villain. He may not know Hawks on a personal level at all, but he has at least seen him on television and read about his career in the newspaper as well.

It's doubtful Hawks will know who he is, although it's a possibility that he'll at least recognize that Neito is a UA student, courtesy of the UA Sports Festival being televised. And if he doesn't, Neito knows his words are enough to make it obvious they're from the same world.]

I'm glad to know I'm not imagining things about that doll. I had thought perhaps it was a coincidence at first - some child leaving it behind. But when I keep seeing it in several places...well. The odds of it being a coincidence go down considerably.

[It honestly takes a moment for him to recognize who this is, but yeah, the sports festival comes to mind and he immediately places the abilities, although not the name. This is another of the young up and comers with a fantastic quirk. Hawks does his research, after all.]

[Just by Hawks' reassurance, he can assume it's at least not anyone from the League of Villains. Despite Hawks' easygoing demeanour, he couldn't have gotten to his current position as the number two hero without being attentive to important details.]

[Withdrawing a pen from his backpack, he writes "Plus ultra" on the doll's arm, then promptly picks the doll up and secures it to the nearest park bench. There's a bike there with a chain - he takes a moment to entangle the doll's leg.

"Plus ultra" isn't a phrase that would hold any meaning here, letting him rule out the likelihood of local children having that doll if this same one shows up. And by tangling it in the chains, that makes it harder on a person playing a prank to do so unnoticed.]

[So far, so good as far as not having dangerous people from their world here. But in the end, it's not just their world's evils that they have to deal with here. They have a whole host of issues from multiple places to deal with. And nothing really just stays behind. People bring their dirty laundry with them wherever they go.

Hawks nods in approval at the idea of a test, and watches Monoma act. This isn't a bad idea.] So now we see what happens.

[He's glad that the number two hero approves of his choices. It's important to make a good impression and show good judgement in an unsettling situation.

So he nods and tries to act casual while walking away and making conversation until he notices out of the corner of his eye that the creepy thing has moved yet again.

It's on a bench just to the side of them. And this time, it's definitely the same doll. "Plus ultra" is clearly in view. If anything, the arm almost seems like it's being held up on purpose to draw their attention.]

[Katsuki knew Neito was here, and every once in a while he managed a curt conversation with the other student just to keep tabs and make sure he was still alive. It's not like he really cares. He just needs a headcount in case something ever happens.

That's what he tells himself when he notices the pale blonde hair and creepy blue eyes amongst the crowd. He stops with what he was doing and approaches him.]

Since you're selling your soul and all to the Lunar Cops, give me your study materials when you finish.

[Monoma rolls his eyes at the comment about selling his soul.]

Being among the Moon Knights means there's a chance of getting information that the government doesn't share with the general public. Or at least eavesdropping on conversations between government officials and high ranked members of the Moon Knights.

[That, the desire to help others as a career, and using this as an opportunity to keep up with his training are his reasons for wanting to join. But rather than immediately jumping into snide remarks, the fact that Bakugou wants his study materials does get his attention.]

Does that mean you're planning on selling your soul to the Moon Knights sometime in the future?

[So that's why he's joining? It makes sense. It's logical. And it absolutely does not sit right with Katsuki. He narrows his eyes and looks up at the shitty sky.]

I'm not into the idea of working for our kidnappers. I don't trust them, and I don't trust any information that would actually make a difference to be readily available to us. I want to see their armory. ...You really think you can get that info?

Torture isn't very heroic, you know. Not to mention, not very effective either. People will say anything that sounds convincing in order to make the pain stop.

[He doesn't seriously think Bakugou would cross that line, but the other boy has an aggressive enough temperament for Monoma to believe that the thought would have at least crossed his mind.]

I think I could at least get something useful through eavesdropping on the right conversations or looking into files I'm not supposed to be looking at, and being a Moon Knight would allow me access to places that a civilian doesn't have.

[Some heroes have to be willing to do slightly unheroic things in order to get the job done. He knows the value of provoking people in order to ensure they're operating based on emotion rather than reason. Not heroic, but incredibly useful in combat situations if one can keep a cool head. If your opponent is of choleric temperament, seek to provoke him.]

[He probably wouldn't torture anyone, but that doesn't mean he doesn't want to sometimes. He might have already killed some of the cultists before. And then there was the time when All Might was here and went berserk and he did what he had to.]

That's illegal. What if they catch you and you get arrested? Fucking airheaded moron.

[Says the one bringing up torture. Still, the way his forehead creases as he frowns, his teeth grit say something else.]

Somehow, I think peeking at a few files illegally would have far less consequences than murder and torture.

[He huffs indignantly. Admittedly, Bakugou has a point. There could be consequences.]

Although I suppose it would depend on the contents of the files. Still, I think it's a worthwhile risk in the long term, and one that lets me gain experience protecting people in the meantime.

[While he understands what Bakugou means about not wanting to work for their kidnappers, there is a counterpoint to consider.]

If we've been kidnapped, I suspect only the highest ranked people were involved. Someone would have slipped up and let something slip by now if the general population knew. A thug who bragged, an innocent child who blurted out something that was a little too honest...something like that. I'm fine with working hard to protect innocent people. It will make me more likely to be trusted by the Moon Knights that way anyway.

[The more he listens, the more severe his expression becomes, before he growls and hands splayed and palms popping in irritation.]

[He's about to make some disparaging remark, and then he starts reading in between the lines. Bakugou is effectively acknowledging that someone else is being rational and clever, however begrudgingly. And he's also showing concern.

It's a lot of material to study. This world's laws, their government structure...all of it. My notes will save you a lot of time, but if you wanted to get started, there are books available in the public library.

[While he's sharing his thoughts and some advice, he might as well mention something else that's been on his mind.]

The world's history is considerably shorter. If anyone knows what happened before the "calamity" people talk about, it's definitely not public knowledge. I wouldn't be surprised if whoever knows a lot of the details of the calamity and the events leading up to it also has some knowledge of how we were brought here.
